Step 2: the script

Once the idea has been commissioned, the writer creates the script, with input from the producer. The producer will give them creative comments and ensure that the script fits the commission brief. The writer usually delivers 3 drafts of the script. In studio, the actors will read from the script so the layout needs to be clear for them to follow. It also needs to give clear instructions on the setting for each scene and notes on any vital SFX.

Role 2: Writer

A writer is someone who create scripted stories in different  forms. They will have ideas and their own way of presenting them. If they are an audio dramatist, they will be interested in  listening to audio and express themselves in sound. They make decisions about the style of the drama - is it single voice? Are there several characters? – and the style – does the drama feel like real life? It is surreal? Is it written in everyday language or poetry?
